On the New front in Eugene: A new Cross Series is born, name tbd, dates are Dec 9th & Dec 15th. More info will follow in the next two weeks as we get it worked out. The goal, make Cyclocross racing very popular in Eugene and have a lot of fun doing it.

Cross Crusade 6 pack, it was right after the start and took more than one person out

New weather forecast, Rain? maybe, maybe not, Roseburg was sunny and warm yesterday. Portland looked to be wet but I heard it was only light showers. Eugene was dry until it got dark then it rained for a little bit.

Rumor has it this longer climb won't be there???

What does this mean, well for Cross Crusade #2 it's hard to say. Hornings Hideout is closer to the coast than Alpenrose, it's also more in the trees. The website mentions a "new course" what does that mean? I've heard all kinds of rumor's floating around, but I can guarantee you it won't be flat. Last year the course had to change between the B/SS race and the last two races do to and accident. They had to take out the long run up and fast descent as someone hit a tree on the descent and had to be Life Flighted out.

Never a good sign!

The area is pretty diverse but is defiantly hilly, even a super flat course will be twice as hilly as Alpenrose. There is a lot of singletrack and winding through trees as well, some large grass fields to play with, gravel roads & steep run up options. I don't remember any pavement in the area.

a tricky run-up

The real question is "will it be muddy" with the current forecast I would say no, but knowing some of the area around Hornings is in deep forest we might get lucky and find some deep sticky mud to play in. I for one am hoping for something more challenging that Alpenrose was, it was a fun course but it was fast like a crit.
